        Heartwood Tree Service

Every three months, everyone in the company practices Aerial Rescue,
using our patented "Cranker, the injured climber" Heartwood Practice Dummy™.

We practice rescuing injured workers from the bucket trucks as well.

We also keep all of our employees current with their CPR/ First Aid certifications,
mostly to keep ahead of the curve.  Did you know that it's 30 compressions to
2 rescue breaths?  We found that out in the last class.

One of our favorite strength tests is the MANKEY™ hanging test.  Here, Patrick
tests one of Freedom Park's historic Yoshino Cherries.

We are dead serious about the MANKEY™ test.

Every Friday morning, Jeff Fabian, a Certified Tree Care Safety Professional,
leads our safety meetings.  He has a prepared topic, but he always leaves time
in the meetings for discussions of "close calls", like the time he almost got run
  over by a crane.

Heartwood has the distinct honor of caring for the trees at the Salisbury National
Cemetery.

Last winter, we took a company trip up to Snowshoe Mountain to ski and
snowboard.  We thrashed it up pretty hardcore, and then caused a scene at
Connections, the nightclub on top of the mountain.  Apparently, they weren't
ready for a West Side Story-type dancing routine.  We feel it is their loss.

If you ever do have the misfortune of having a tree fall on your house, pray that
you have the good fortune to have Cristino, Heartwood's top climber for the last
15 years, take it off of your house.

As a service to migrating songbirds, Jeff grows his beard for habitat, shaving only after the Buffalo Sabres fail to win the Stanley Cup again.

This is at a jobsite where we installed a rope swing.  It is official Heartwood policy to thoroughly test all rope swings before leaving the property.

Although messy, even trees need prostate exams.

Find the two Arborists in this picture!

Lots of tree care companies have a crane, but how many have a train? This rail car is steeped in Charlotte history, and sits on our property, on 100 feet of track we had built to set it on.

Sundown at Lake Heartwood.

  Yeah, we are.
